I am a teacher and researcher and believe that the two compliment and strengthen the other. Currently as a part of the Writing Program at Emory University, I am serving as the Director of the Writing Program, as well as the Director of Writing Across Emory, our version of a WAC/WID program. Along with Brad Peters of Northern Illinois University, I co-edited a journal on teaching and learning–Journal of the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning (JAEPL)–for nine years.
I am currently finishing up a long term project recovering the antebellum lyceum movement in the South which is under advance contract with Parlor Press. My other research areas are faith and learning, teaching and learning, the Gothic and rhetoric, and rhetoric and literature. I teach first-year writing, rhetorical grammar, rhetoric, creative non-fiction, among other classes.

Hi Joonna- Remember me from Northwestern all those years ago? I just wanted to reach out and let you know I’m still writing poetry and just got a piece published in Good River Review: https://www.goodriverreview.com/post/jared-belden
Thank you so much for your teaching and kind, thoughtful presence in my life at NWC. Hope you’re well : ) Jared
So good to hear from you. My email is joonnatrapp@gmail.com or joonna.trapp@emory.edu. did you know that Carl passed suddenly this year? Prostate cancer. I miss him. I am retired and trying to publish my own poetry as well. Not as good as this you sent. Lovely as always. I hope you are doing well, my dear friend.
